What is Run 3.50?
I’ll be running 3.5 miles every day of 2021 to raise awareness about climate change.
350 is in reference to 350ppm, the amount of Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere that countless scientists, climate experts, and governments officials agree is the ‘safe’ level that we must get below as soon as possible to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.
WHY Run 3.50?
I am not an activist or an expert, I’m simply a father who is passionate about this subject and wants to do my small bit to raise awareness and try to make the world a little better for my son. I also work full-time, so the goal will be something I am working towards in my free time, hopefully to show we can all do a little something.
I’ve found that one of the hardest elements when considering climate change is the fear of the scale and inevitability of the challenge and overcoming the sense that we can’t do anything to make a change. Which is why I think it’s important to understand that there are small steps we can all take to make a better future.
I’m not perfect, I can be better, but I want to make a difference. Run 3.50 is my small effort to make a change, to build awareness, to advocate and to show the steps that I (literally in some cases) am trying to take.
This is a climate emergency; we all need to understand what’s happening and try to make a small difference to try to make a better future.
HOW TO HELP
I’m not planning on raising money myself, rather I’d like to direct followers, friends, family towards the pages of certain organisations and suggest that they choose one to donate to.
My name is James Morris. I live in London and I’ve been running for around 2 years.
I’m passionate about climate change and about the need for people to understand the critical need to address this challenge.
However, I’m also a realist and know that we all don’t have the time or the ability to change everything ourselves, so I believe in everyone making small steps to support a bigger goal.
